Dr. Alina Vehuni

Founder, Keeper of the Vision

Dr. Alina Vehuni is a visionary educator, consultant, and coach with over 20 years of impact in multilingual education and systemic transformation. As former Teacher Specialist for the Armenian FLAG program in Glendale Unified, she led its evolution into a high-performing dual immersion model through curriculum design, educator training, and community building. Today, as a consultant for LAUSD, she continues shaping the future of Armenian Dual Language Immersion.

Dr. Vehuni champions dual language education as a catalyst for global competence and cognitive advantage. Through ADLEA, she is building a platform to unify Armenian dual language educators and elevate the next generation of bilingual, biliterate global citizens.

Dr. Stella Gukasyan

ADLEA Research and Data Guide

Dr. Stella Gukasyan is a transformational healthcare and education leader with over 20 years of experience advancing organizational performance, program innovation, and systems transformation. Her work spans healthcare, government, academia, and community-based organizations, where she has led complex federally and state-funded initiatives, multidisciplinary teams, and strategic partnerships.

Through implementation science, program evaluation, and evidence-based leadership, she translates research and innovation into sustainable, measurable impact, bringing that same rigor to strengthening the Armenian Dual Language Immersion Programs through data and research.

Barbara Ter-Papyan

Barbara Ter-Papyan

Teaching and Learning Specialist

With degrees in Pedagogy and Linguistics and more than 40 years of teaching experience, Barbara Ter-Papyan has dedicated her career to Armenian language education, including as a founder of Ararat Charter School and a National Board-certified educator. She joined LAUSD's Dual Language Immersion Program in 2019, bringing decades of expertise in Armenian language and culture directly into the DLI classroom.

Hasmik Chobanyan

Hasmik Chobanyan

Translation and Interpreting Specialist

Hasmik Chobanyan holds a Master's degree in Armenian Language and Literature and has taught in Glendale Unified School District's Armenian Dual Language Immersion Program since 2009, extending her work in Armenian DLI since 2019 to Los Angeles City College. She has contributed to curriculum development that strengthens DLI and is dedicated to helping her students develop both linguistic proficiency and a deep appreciation for Armenian culture.
