Armenian DLI exists in two very different worlds. In Armenia, teachers work within a national system where Armenian is the language of instruction, curriculum, and accountability, a context of depth, cultural rootedness, and established pedagogical tradition. In diaspora schools around the world, teachers are building something newer: dual language programs that must balance Armenian language development with the academic standards and cultural realities of their host countries.
These two worlds have everything to learn from each other. The diaspora teacher who has developed translanguaging strategies for learners who are not native speakers has something invaluable to offer. The Armenia-based teacher who has taught academic content in Armenian for decades holds knowledge that no training program can fully replicate. Professional Exchange is how ADLEA brings these educators together, in person, virtually, and in sustained community.

Exchange Opportunities Connecting Diaspora and Armenia-Based Teachers
Structured exchanges, both in-person and virtual, that place diaspora DLI educators in Armenian school settings and Armenia-based teachers in diaspora classrooms. These are not observation tours. They are immersive professional experiences designed to surface the knowledge each context holds and transfer it across the divide.
Shared Practice Across Very Different School Contexts
Facilitated communities of practice, joint professional development sessions, and collaborative lesson study cycles that allow educators from radically different school environments to examine their instructional approaches together. What works in one context and what works in another are not the same, and understanding why is where the deepest professional growth happens.
